
Trekking
The hills and forests offer trekking trails that offer different levels of challenges and adventure to enthusiasts. Most trails wind through the montane grasslands and shoal forests with other more arduous routes climbing the higher reaches of the Western Ghat mountains and in places offer rock climbing challenges.

Bird Watching
The hills and wildlife parks around Munnar are also sometimes referred to as a "highland birding paradise" with the montane grasslands and shoal forests, found in profusion in the area, being home to over 200 migratory and endemic bird species. Birds spotted most often include Nigiri Pipit, Wood Pigeon and Flycatchers, Palani Laughing Thrush, Bulbuls, Hornbills and Sunbirds among a fascinating variety of other species.

Fishing
The rivers, numerous streams and rivulets, the lakes formed behind reservoirs all offer opportunities to fishing enthusiasts to spend time in the numerous scenic spots that dot the area with their thoughts, rod and tackle for company. Many patiently awaiting hooking Rainbow Trout, brought all the way from Scotland about a century ago and found in many of the fresh water bodies in Munnar.

Boating
The many lakes formed by the reservoirs behind many of the dams in Munnar also offer boating facilities to visitors. The boats on offer range from peddle boats for those who seek to float about at a gentle pace and take in the beautiful surroundings and for the more adventurous guests, speedboats that whizz around over the placid waters.
